Sewing things that only cover my boobs

(but let one baby through)

The Nursing Bra

1. Cut the strap 1cm away from the front of the bra.

2. The one part of the clip slides into the strap we cut, fold the strap down, and secure it with a straight stitch.

3. Take the free-hanging bra straps, and the hook side of the bra clip, slide in from the front, fold over and sew this shut.

4. Cut a long strip of soft elastic that can reach from the clip to the bottom of the bra.

5. Sew the bottom of the elastic into the bottom edge.

6. Attach the elastic to the bottom of the hook clip and sew it in place.

This should allow you to easily open and close your bra while the elastic we added in helps to ensure the straps don’t fly away when unhooked.

The Nursing top

Adding a zipper to a turtle neck.

  • Invisible zipper

1. Seam rip the side seam going upwards to the neck.

2. Insert the zipper, sew it in place. Click here to learn more about how to properly insert an invisible zipper.

3. Close off the bottom of the zipper.

The Nursing Cover

  • 1 meter of Rigilene

  • 1 meter of Velcro

  • Suspenders with clips

1. Cut the velcro and rigilene in half.

2. Glue the velcro to rigilene so that there is velcro on the inner circle of one rigilene and the outer circle of the other half.

3. Sew the rigilene and the velcro together using a straight stitch.

4. Cut off one of the straps from the suspenders, and utilize both of the clips by cutting one off of the unused strap.

5. Sew that extra clip to the cut edge of the strap so that there are two clips on one line.

6. To assemble, take the two velcro pieces of rigilene and sandwich a cloth in between the two semi-circles. Flip the material around the rigilene, connect the two clips to either end, and loop it around your head.
